Hello Diaryland! Yes, I am still alive, but have been very sick for the last 4 days. The flu has been making it’s way around our family, and I have been it’s latest victim. Today is the first day I can actually breathe through my nose. I still can’t smell anything, but at least I am feeling better. I was supposed to have a statistics test Friday, but I was too sick to even attend. I missed 1.5 days of work because of this thing. That flu bug was aggressive and nasty. It started as a sore throat, and went from the right side, to the left, up my left nostril, over to the right, and straight into my lungs, and into my ears… *GAG* Consequently, I have been heaving up these lovely large brown chunks of phlegm every time I cough. The Doctor was kind enough to give me an anti-biotic. I just love being sick, especially when everything connected to your nasal passages gets clogged. Can’t eat, can’t breathe, can’t hear. Love it ! I had to go to the doctor yesterday. It was an appointment I made a week earlier, so it wasn’t because I was sick. I actually may need to have some surgery. Nothing major, just something more or less elective; you see I have this cist on my back. Lovely eh? So I’ll be getting that taken care of soon. Other than all of that, there really hasn’t been anything major happening. The thing is, when I’m sick, all other life stops. I am not one of those who can function normally at home or at work when I am ill. I just become a wheezing lump of flesh on the couch until it passes. I’m a wimp. Vacation plans are all set, we are leaving Friday, and I’m glad I’m getting this disease over with now so I can enjoy myself. Cheryl and I are doing fine, even though we never see each other as much as we would like. Because of this we have taken to going on these little mini-dates where we just disappear for an hour or so. We go to a book store, or to the mall. We don’t do anything special; we just talk over a drink. We are starting to enjoy these times together. In fact, she got a little mad at me when I declined her invitation earlier this week. I don’t think she realized at the time how sick I was. She does now! Later, Rick
