The Evils of Disney

The Evils of Disney.

When I was a kid, I went to Disneyland in California. I met Mickey and crew, and it was the only thing I remember about being 4 years old. That’s right, a man in a mouse suit came up and put his arm around me. Woo-hoo. And my parents pain dearly for it even back then.

Disney has quite a little propaganda machine going. From an early age they bombard children with the line of cartoon movies they’ve made, and then tell them through advertisements that by going to Disneyworld, You can make you dreams come true by actually getting to see/met some of the people like Snow White, Mickey, The Little Mermaid, Belle, and a host of other costumed actors.

The thing is, the way they advertise, you’d think that if you don’t take your kids to Disneyworld, that you are a bad parent who has deprived your children of a right of passage. By taking your kids to Disneyworld, you make “Their dreams come true” Well… Seeing as how I have now been there, and done that… I conclude that the place is nightmare. (I’m speaking specifically about Magic Kingdom, not MGM or Epcot)

Here is list of reasons why I feel this way:

The Crowds

$50 per park, per day x 5 people = $750

The parking lot is bigger than the park itself

The rides suck. Remember, I’ve been spoiled by Cedar Point

The Crowds

There are more shops than there are things to see and do.

It’s old, and everything in it is wearing out.

The Crowds

But think of it like this; you pay to get in the door, and you pay until you walk out the door. It is simply a giant merchandising venue that is nothing more than a glorified tourist trap.

However, I did enjoy MGM, and I will be going back to Epcot. But I will never again darken the door of Magic Kingdom. They would do better to plow it under and build something new.

Rick
