The house is quiet, except for the silent tapping of my fingers on the keyboard, and the gentle hum of my computer. Outside there is a distant roll of thunder, and gentle tapping of rain on the roof. The cat pays a visit to the food dish; there is the crunching of his food with the high pitched echo from his mouth. I alone am awake. It’s nice to have some moments to myself. It’s nice to engage in writing again, It’s nice to be free, even if ever so briefly. I slept till almost noon today. The rains came around three this afternoon. I managed to get the lawn moved, and I got started on cleaning my garage. Cheryl had been complaining about the dryer taking longer than usual to dry clothing. She thought it had something to do with the washing machine not spinning properly. I went up on the roof to clean the gutters. I found that the dryer stack was clogged, and that definitely took care of the problem. I managed to fix the broken part on the washing machine as well. I got everything running; lawn movers, weed-whackers, etc. We ate pizza for dinner. I watched American History X, and Fight Club. Edward Norton would be proud. It’s nice not to have to worry about school for once. It’s nice to have a little of my life back. Really nice. Later, Rick
