#2 So David Westerfield was found guilty. Cheryl was scared to death that he wouldn’t be. Especially since the jury was taking so long to deliberate. Fox News reports, ”Prosecutors also called experts who described the DNA link between Danielle and the blood on Westerfield's jacket. One said the odds that another person would have the same DNA were at least 1 in 130 quadrillion. Julie Mills, a clerk at a dry cleaner, also testified that Westerfield came to the store two days after Danielle vanished, arriving in his motor home to drop off the bloodstained jacket, two comforters and two pillow covers.” In my mind this is the smoking gun. Her hair and blood were found everywhere. Yet his attorney kept making the case that it was of the mother’s lifestyle that placed her daughter in danger. Whether or not that may be the case is not the issue, however it was not her mother’s lifestyle that put the evidence where it was. To look at the guy, you wouldn’t think he is capable of such a thing. An engineer, who holds several patents he’s made a good life for himself, and had a good reputation in his field. This kind of heinous crime is what you’d expect to see some trailer trash Jerry Springer guest do. Anymore, you can’t even trust those you believe to be closest to you. I know, we have been betrayed. In the wake of this trial we have seen an eruption of media coverage about child abductions and Amber alerts. If there is any bright side to this terrible story it is an elevated national awareness to this problem. The question I ask is, should he die for this? Later, Rick
